Dark Carnivals sista kapitel öppnar Dota 2:s två sista tågvagnar med nya automatpersonor
Dark Carnival's third and final chapter opens today, unlocking the Cauldron Car and Engine Car, the last two stops on the train route Valve started building a month ago. The chapter follows the same two-week unlock cadence as the rest of the event: Prison Car and Smelting Car opened first, the Blimp and Storage Car followed, and Cauldron Car and Engine Car close out the map.
Five heroes get new Automaton personas in this chapter: Lich, Lifestealer, Tidehunter, Pugna, and Sven, according to datamined files reported by Escorenews. Chapter 3 also adds a standalone Treasure of Wonders and a Bully Mammoth set for Magnus as one of the closing rewards. Valve calls the chapter's new challenge Automaton Assault, and the full mechanics weren't independently confirmed by other outlets at the time of writing, so treat specifics beyond its name as unconfirmed until Valve's patch notes post.
The event's foundation goes back to Dark Carnival's June 25 launch, which set the terms for everything Chapter 3 builds on: a free story campaign with optional $15 premium branches, a ticket system that pays out for playing any hero in any match, the first five Automaton personas, 20 cosmetic sets, and a comic following Prokhvostka and Tresdin.

Valve also tuned the event's economy days before this chapter dropped. A recent update changed ticket fragment payouts to 2 per standard match and 1 per Turbo match, added daily Clairvoyance Stones for co-op bot matches, and fixed more than 25 heroes, including a Shadow Fiend bug that let Requiem of Souls charges stack past their intended limit. Adjusting the reward rate right before the final chapter opens gives players still catching up a faster path to the Chapter 3 rewards.
I read the Turbo payout cut as the more telling change here, since it pushes the ticket grind toward full-length matches right as the event's last content window opens. That's a real cost for anyone who leaned on quick Turbo games to farm tickets, and I'd guess Valve made the call because full matches keep players in queue longer during the exact stretch the event needs engagement most. Dark Carnival doesn't have a published end date yet, but a three-chapter structure that mirrors Crownfall's pacing suggests Valve will close it out within a few weeks of today, once players have had a real shot at the Cauldron Car and Engine Car rewards.
