Rules in the Dota Pro Circuit System Has Been Changed

The changes affected the distribution of DPC points and prize money at each tournament, as well as the selection process for Major- and Minor-tournaments, which for both championships was combined into one process.

Qualification for majors and minors will take place in three stages:

• In the first stage, 10 teams take part, 8 of which are selected by the number of Dota Pro Circuit points or Valve's personal discretion. The two remaining participants go through the preliminary qualifiers to the first qualification stage. Matches in the first stage are held in Bo2 format. Two best teams are selected from each group, who enter the second phase. Compositions that took 3 places in their groups fall into phase 3. Teams located in 4-5 positions leave the qualification and get 10 DPC points. If the region has three slots for the Major tournament or two slots for the Minor championship, then the fourth places will play one invitation between themselves in the second phase of kwal, while automatically passing into the third phase.

• In the second stage, four teams will play in the double-elimination bracket. Of the four rosters, two or three participants, depending on the region, receive invitations to the Major tournament. The remaining teams will go to the third stage of qualifications.
• In the third stage, four teams will also take part in the fight in the double-elimination bracket. One or two teams, depending on the region, will go to the Minor tournament. Participants departing at the third stage of the kwal will receive not 10, but 20 Dota Pro Circuit points each.

As for the distribution of points and prize money, now the gap between the winner and the vice-champion of the competition has narrowed. In the Major Championships, the winner will receive 4,850 DPC points and $ 300,000, while the vice champion will receive 3,000 points and $ 160,000 (previously there were $ 350,000 and 4,950 against $ 170,000 and 3,000). On minors, the gap between the prizes of the winner and the vice-champion was narrowed even more. They will receive 140 and 120 points, and cash prizes will be $ 72,000 and $ 60,000, respectively (previously there were $ 125,000 and 120 points versus $ 70,000 and 100 points).
