Call of Duty Devs tacklar fusk, skräppostrapporter och Shadowbans inför säsong 3
Call of Duty’s anti-cheat team is back with another progress report—and this one’s pretty meaty. With the launch of Season 3 just around the corner, the Ricochet Anti-Cheat devs have dropped a full breakdown on how they’re handling shadowbans (a.k.a. “Limited Matchmaking”) and why spamming the report button might actually get you in trouble.
Let’s start with the shadowbans. Activision confirmed that players who are suspected of cheating won’t get banned instantly. Instead, they’re dropped into special Limited Matchmaking lobbies while the team investigates. Think of it as a digital timeout room where you’re still playing, but everyone else in the lobby is also under suspicion. That way, if you are cheating, you’re not ruining the experience for legit players while the devs look into your case.

Oh—and if someone at your party gets flagged? The whole group goes into LMM lobbies with them. That’s right, you can’t squad up with a shady friend and skirt the system. If your buddy’s under the microscope, so are you.
Now, about those reports. Spam reporting isn’t going to work the way some players think it does. Activision says flooding the system with fake reports can backfire and possibly get your account punished. Reporting someone over and over because they wrecked you with a sniper rifle isn’t “doing your part”—it might get you flagged. According to the devs, reports are looked at as part of a broader process. So if you think someone’s cheating, sure, report them. But if you’re just salty? Maybe take a breath.
The team also threw in some fresh stats to show they’re not messing around. Since Black Ops 6 launched in October 2024, over 228,000 accounts have been banned across all platforms. And it’s not just individual players—Activision says they’ve shut down 20+ cheat creators and wiped out a bunch of resellers, too.
To help with the whole “was that guy cheating or just cracked?” debate, the Season 3 update is bringing a KillCam UI upgrade to Warzone. It’ll show more info about how you were spotted—line of sight, UAVs, unsuppressed weapons, etc.—so you don’t have to play detective after getting clapped. Later updates will even show what perks and field upgrades your killer had active, which should help stop the flood of false reports.

All this is dropping alongside the much-hyped return of Verdansk, which goes live April 3 through 15. Activision says it’ll be a pretty faithful recreation of the classic 2020 map, with some lighting and quality-of-life tweaks (and yes, Metro stations are back too). Log in during the event and you’ll get some cosmetic goodies as a thank-you.
- Cheaters aren’t banned instantly—they go into “suspicious player” lobbies first.
- If one person in your party is flagged, everyone gets shadowbanned together.
- Spam reporting = not helpful, and could get you in trouble.
- KillCam now gives you way more intel on what got you killed.
- 228K bans and dozens of cheat operations wiped since October.
Whether you're a hardcore Warzone grinder or just popping into Black Ops 6 for some quick matches, it looks like Season 3 is shaping up to be a solid one—especially if you’re tired of running into shady players.
