Resident Evil-producenten svarade på seriens 30-årsjubileum

2026 is a special year for Capcom: not only because the studio released the ninth installment of the Resident Evil game series titled Requiem, but also because the famous horror franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Speaking of Requiem, the game really made the day for the studio, as it has become not only the fastest-selling game in the history of Resident Evil but also the best-selling game of 2026 so far. Considering such success, Capcom might celebrate the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil on a grand scale. At the same time, Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi has released a message to all game series fans, revealed via Capcom Europe on X social media. You can check out his statement below:

“To our beloved fans of the Resident Evil series,

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the fans who have supported us along the way since the release of our first game on March 22, 1996.

Last month, we released Resident Evil Requiem. With the return to Raccoon City, the place where it all began, we combined the two hearts of the series—horror and action—and packed them both into one title. And now, Requiem has reached over six million players around the world. Thank you all so much.

Our team will continue to work hard to bring all of you even more wonderful experiences in the future—and it would be an honor if you continued along with us on that journey.

As revealed by Takeuchi in his statement, Capcom “will continue to work hard to bring more wonderful experiences in the future,” and as we know, there are multiple Resident Evil titles in development—including the story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake, and Resident Evil 10. According to the latest report by gaming insider Dusk Golem, the remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica could be one of the best Resident Evil remakes, as it's developed by Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo—the directors of Resident Evil 2: Remake and Resident Evil 4: Remake.
