Embark Studios has released a short teaser for the upcoming ARC Raiders Flashpoint update, hinting at a major gameplay shift involving one of the game’s most dangerous enemies. As March comes to a close, the studio is preparing to roll out its third major update of 2026, continuing its ambitious post-launch roadmap.

The Flashpoint patch is set to arrive on March 31 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, bringing new content and changes that could significantly impact how players approach PvE encounters.

Shredder Appears to Be Leaving Stella Montis

The newly released teaser strongly suggests that the Shredder, widely considered the deadliest ARC enemy in the game, is no longer confined to Stella Montis. The video showcases the underground tunnels of Blue Gate, alongside the caption: “Someone forgot to close the Stella Montis doors on their way out.”

This detail all but confirms that the Shredder will be introduced to a new map as part of the Flashpoint update. Until now, the enemy has remained exclusive to Stella Montis, where it has built a reputation for being extremely difficult to counter.

A Planned Expansion of PvE Threats

The Shredder’s expansion beyond its original location has been hinted at before. Earlier this year, design director Virgil Watkins said in a previous interview that Embark planned to evolve the PvE experience by introducing existing threats to new environments.

I think this is a logical step for keeping PvE gameplay fresh, especially if map variety alone isn’t enough to challenge experienced players.

While Blue Gate appears to be the first destination, it remains unclear whether the Shredder will eventually be added to more maps in future updates.

A Look Back at ARC Raiders’ 2026 Roadmap

The Flashpoint update marks the third of four planned patches scheduled between January and April. Embark has already delivered two major updates earlier this year:

  • Headwinds (January) Introduced a 1v3 matchmaking option, a new Map Condition for Buried City, and a new Player Project.
  • Shrouded Sky (February) Added two new ARC enemies, expanded the Dam Battlegrounds with a new location, and included additional gameplay systems.

Each update has aimed to expand both PvE and PvP elements, with Flashpoint expected to continue that trend.

Shredder Remains the Most Dangerous ARC Enemy

Despite being limited to a single map until now, the Shredder has already proven to be the most lethal enemy in ARC Raiders. According to official statistics shared by Embark earlier this month, the Shredder ranks first among the deadliest ARC units in the game.

Other notable threats include:

  • Rocketeer (2nd place)
  • Firefly (3rd place)

Players familiar with Stella Montis are well aware of the Shredder’s capabilities, as encounters often require precise coordination and quick adaptation.

Mixed Community Reaction Ahead of the Update

While the gameplay implications of expanding the Shredder are significant, community response has been divided. Some players are concerned that reusing existing enemies may not qualify as meaningful new content.

I see why some players are skeptical, as expectations for “new threats” usually involve entirely fresh designs rather than reworked encounters.

Several community figures and players have voiced concerns that the teased “new ARC threat” for Flashpoint may simply refer to the Shredder appearing on additional maps, rather than introducing a brand-new enemy type.

What to Expect from Flashpoint

With the update launching on March 31, players won’t have to wait long to see how these changes affect gameplay. Whether the Shredder’s expansion enhances replayability or falls short of expectations will likely depend on how Embark integrates the enemy into Blue Gate’s unique layout.
