Pokopia-spelaren bygger en rolig Rickroll-fälla med hjälp av spelets kreativa verktyg

Denna artikel finns tillgänglig på följande språk

A Pokopia player has found a clever and unexpected way to prank friends — by recreating the classic Rickroll meme inside the game. The creation once again highlights just how far players can push Pokopia’s creative systems, which have already been used to build everything from real-world-inspired Pokémon Centers to iconic locations like the Bell Tower from Pokémon Gold and Silver.

For those unfamiliar, Rickrolling is a long-running internet meme that began in 2007. It involves tricking someone into clicking a link or encountering content that unexpectedly plays Rick Astley’s 1987 hit “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The meme has remained popular for years, with multiple resurgences — and even helped the song surpass one billion views on YouTube in 2021.

A Rickroll Railway in Pokopia

Reddit user Luneli recently shared their creation on the Pokopia subreddit — a seemingly ordinary railway tunnel that quickly turns into a full-on Rickroll experience.

What starts as a standard ride soon reveals its true purpose: every passenger is greeted with the unmistakable tune upon arrival. Luneli explained that they initially spent hours trying to fully understand the game’s music system, but eventually decided to pivot and build this instead.

The result? A perfectly executed in-game meme.

“No regrets,” Luneli noted.

Community Reactions

The creation quickly gained attention, with players praising both the creativity and humor behind it. Some of the standout reactions included:

  • “This is the greatest thing I’ve seen on the internet”
  • “Congratulations, you’ve won Pokopia”
  • “I’m losing it over this”
  • “Excellent use of free will”

There were also discussions about improving the effect. Some players suggested adding silent tracks to make the surprise even stronger, though Luneli mentioned that current limitations made that difficult to achieve.

More to Come

Interestingly, Luneli hinted that this project is far from finished. In a reply to another user, they revealed that they have already “escalated” the idea and that more creations are on the way.

If that’s the case, players can likely expect even bigger — and perhaps more elaborate — Rickroll setups in the future.

Creativity Without Limits

This kind of invention is a perfect example of what happens when players are given powerful sandbox tools. Much like in Minecraft or Animal Crossing, Pokopia encourages experimentation — and sometimes that leads to surprisingly wholesome (and hilarious) results.

A Pokémon-inspired life sim was always bound to spark creativity, but few could have predicted something like a Rickroll railway. Still, it’s exactly this kind of unexpected idea that keeps gaming communities fun and endlessly inventive.
