Nintendo minskar produktionen av Switch 2
Following the success of strong sales numbers for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 and rumors that Microsoft and Sony plan to launch their next-generation consoles as early as 2027, Nintendo has announced that it is scaling back production of its latest console, the Switch 2—and this could be a cause for concern.
According to the new report made by Bloomberg, the selling results of Nintendo Switch 2 last holiday season didn’t meet the company’s expectations in the United States, and they decided to lower the production to 4 million units, while initially the target was to create 6 million units. Nintendo is planning to stick to this plan until next April.
Recently, a new rumor also revealed Nintendo might release a special Switch 2 version for the European market, which will have a removable battery and allow gamers to replace it without repair service, although the company hasn’t confirmed it yet.
2026 must be a very exciting year for Switch 2 users as the platform receives some prospect-exclusive titles, like Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Pokémon Pokopia, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Moreover, there are rumors that some of the biggest AAA titles, such as Grand Theft Auto VI, Starfield, and Call of Duty, might appear on Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
