As we know, recently Ubisoft decided to close Red Storm Entertainment, the developers of the Tom Clancy’s franchise, which had been working on 10 different projects but now will focus on supporting the Snowdrop engine, IT, and customer relations. One of the games that is currently under development at Ubisoft is the next mainline Ghost Recon title—Project Over.

According to gaming insider Tom Henderson, regular layoffs at Ubisoft and the closure of studios like Red Storm have already made an impact, as Project Over “has already been scaled back considerably from its original plans,” despite its being one of the most important and ambitious titles for the company. As mentioned in the report, this may also be related to other Ubisoft’s upcoming releases—including Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Splinter Cell Remake, a rumored Director’s Cut for Watch Dogs: Legion, and more.

Ubisoft’s Current Issues Could Have Influence on Studio’s Upcoming Projects 1

Henderson also reveals that he spoke to some Ubisoft employees, and they assured him the company needs to assign the right people to the right jobs, and closures of studios and regular layoffs lead to numerous project delays and result in these projects failing to attract players and proving to be financial failures.

Despite this frustrating situation, Ubisoft is still working on multiple Assassin’s Creed installments, as well as the new Far Cry games, Beyond Good and Evil 2, and more.
