Nytt spel från Yakuza-utvecklaren Gang of Dragon får störande uppdatering

Announced at The Game Awards 2025, Gang of Dragon was one of the most stunning reveals at the show. The game was announced as being under development by Nagoshi Studios, led by the legendary Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of Yakuza game series, who left Sega in 2021.

At first glance, Gang of Dragon seemed like a thrilling action game with a focus on close combat, featuring a well-known actor, Ma Dong-seok; however, last month we heard a disappointing report that the game might be at risk of cancellation, as NetEase, the parent company of Nagoshi Studios, is looking to stop financing the gaming studio this May, while Gang of Dragon still needs around $45 million to be completed. Unfortunately, the situation is not looking good at the moment.

As spotted by Reddit user AashyLarry, Nagoshi Studio has deleted their YouTube channel and all trailers of Gang of Dragon, which clearly gives rise to some rather unpleasant and disturbing thoughts.

This follows rumors that NetEase cut all funding to Nagoshi Studio and that the future of ‘Gang of Dragon’ was in limbo as they look for new sponsors."

So far, we haven’t seen any announcement from Nagoshi Studios or NetEase, but this might be another hint that the game won’t find its financial support and might be cancelled less than 6 months after its official reveal. This is definitely what the fans wanted, and they hope the project will not be abandoned. Maybe we will see Gang of Dragon outsourced to another gaming studio, as it was mentioned in March’s report that “Nagoshi is trying to find new sponsors”.

Gang of Dragon is an AAA action-adventure set in Japan, primarily in the real-life Kabuchiko district, which is famous for its nightclubs and mafia showdowns. It follows a story about Shin Ji-seong (Ma Dong-seok), who finds himself caught up in a struggle between rival factions, yet at the same time forms deep personal bonds that radically change his outlook on life. So far, the game is confirmed to be released only on PC.
