Microsoft skjuter upp lanseringen av Fable RPG till tidigt 2027

Microsoft announced a delay for its upcoming Fable reboot, shifting its launch window from this fall to February 2027. The role-playing game will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Microsoft attributed the decision to a crowded holiday release schedule and the upcoming launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is scheduled for November 19, 2026.

The official Xbox social media account published a statement detailing the company's perspective on the packed lineup.

The announcement follows a series of internal rumors regarding the development timeline. Last month, the official Fable social media account denied reports of an internal delay, reiterating the original fall launch target. However, industry reporter Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb had noted that Microsoft executives expressed concern about competing directly with Grand Theft Auto 6.

I think avoiding a direct head-to-head matchup with Grand Theft Auto 6 is a necessary business maneuver for any major release this holiday season. Furthermore, I see this extra breathing room as an opportunity for the developers to polish the final experience.

The upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 7 will feature a new look at Fable alongside other Microsoft titles. Recent leaks on Reddit by user Weird-Judge-4578 indicate that Fable, Clockwork Revolutions, and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy recently appeared in the Coming Soon section of Game Pass. The leak suggests these titles will receive trailers or official release timelines during the June event. Reports also indicate that Gears of War: E-Day may target a September launch.
