In addition to several Assassin’s Creed video games currently in development, Netflix is working on a new adaptation of the franchise. According to the latest information, this version will differ significantly from the 2016 film—not only in terms of setting but also in its scope and budget.

The events of Assassin's Creed from Netflix will take place in 64 AD in Ancient Rome and will tell "an original story set in the heart of the Roman Empire." Currently, filming is underway in Italy, and in a recent interview with France TV, one of the show's actors, Ramzy Bedia, gave a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming project. He confirmed that the first season of Netflix's Assassin's Creed will consist of 8 episodes, teasing that they will be lengthy. Bedia also mentioned that the creators have invested huge budgets and resources into the series and that he will play a "very evil" character—likely one of the villains, as you can see below:

The writing team includes Sanaz Toossi (A League of Their Own), Sam Reynolds (The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Daniel Goldberg, and Tom Hemmings. The release date for the Assassin's Creed TV series has not yet been announced.

Additionally, the next mainline game in the series, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, as well as the multiplayer title Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus, are currently in development.
