One of February 2027's bigger releases will be the new Fable game. Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series, is handling development, which raised a few eyebrows early on. However, early impressions suggest Fable is shaping up to be genuinely solid.

Fans got to try Fable firsthand at the recent 2026 Xbox FanFest tour in London, with no embargo in place, and plenty shared their thoughts online. User PeterP_1985 highlighted the game's optimization, running a steady 60 FPS at 4K on Xbox Series X, with visuals that look genuinely impressive. They also praised the flexible combat system, letting players mix melee, ranged, and magic, along with strong voice acting throughout.

Despite the largely positive early reception, Fable's budget has reportedly ballooned well beyond Xbox's original plans, which could spell trouble for Playground Games if the game doesn't perform well commercially.

Fable is confirmed to release on February 23, 2027, for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Premium Edition owners get access to the game a few days early, on February 18.
