Fallen Aces andra avsnitt skjuts in i 2026 med ambitiöst nytt gameplay
Fallen Aces's second episode will not release before the end of 2025, according to a recent development update on Steam from developer Trey Powell and publisher New Blood. The update confirms that Episode Two has moved beyond its earlier target window and is now expected in 2026. Alongside the delay, the studio released a short teaser and outlined several major additions, including a first-person car chase sequence, new environments, and a fully controllable companion character.
The update follows the early access launch of Episode One, which arrived last year and established Fallen Aces as a stylized first-person shooter inspired by pulp crime comics and immersive sim design. The game presents a noir city rendered through bold comic-book art, paired with systemic combat that allows players to improvise using weapons, objects, and environmental interactions. Since release, players have been waiting for news on the continuation of the story.
The most striking reveal tied to Fallen Aces's second episode is a first-person car chase shown in a brief teaser. The sequence places the player behind the wheel during a high-speed pursuit, firing a tommy gun through both side windows while steering with a foot placed on the wheel. The other foot controls the gas pedal. The scene leans heavily into exaggerated pulp action, reinforcing the game’s tone while introducing mechanics not seen in the first episode.
The Steam update confirms that vehicles will be fully drivable, rather than scripted set pieces. The developers addressed this directly in their announcement.
“We're not the kind of developers to give you a car that can go 200mph and not let ya drive the damn thing, boss!” — New Blood developers
Beyond the car chase, Episode Two expands the scope of the game’s setting. Players will leave the familiar city streets and travel through suburban neighborhoods, slum districts, and even a police station. The narrative continues to follow Mike and his crew as they attempt to leave town while investigating a serial killer. According to the update, the pressure on the characters escalates as events move across multiple locations rather than remaining contained within the city core.
A major gameplay addition is Delia, who becomes an active presence in Episode Two. She is described as a fully controllable NPC companion who responds to direct commands. Players can order her to move to specific positions, hold her ground, or attack designated enemies. Delia’s role marks a shift from the more solitary structure of Episode One and introduces coordination into combat encounters.
The tone of the update reflects confidence in the progress of Episode Two, even while acknowledging the missed release window.
“Now I know we said we'd have this out this year. Did we say that? Ahh shit you know we're not good with dates and times… makin games is hard, boss.” — New Blood developers
While Episode Two remains in development, New Blood has released the Immersive Sip update for the current early access build. This patch focuses on expanding first-person animations and interaction details. Consumables now feature unique sprites and animations, including smoking and drinking. Ammunition items also display dedicated first-person visuals, reinforcing the tactile feel of the game.
The update introduces additional features such as swimming animations, revised stamina behavior during attacks, and new death animations. One notable change allows cola to function as a consumable weapon. Several fixes address audio issues, animation glitches, and interaction bugs, including corrections to tommy gun firing sounds and climbing animations. Editor tools have also been expanded with new selection options and environmental assets.
New Blood’s approach to extended early access development mirrors its handling of other published titles. Gloomwood has remained in early access since 2022, while Ultrakill entered that phase in 2020. The studio has maintained a pattern of releasing substantial updates while allowing projects to mature over several years. This strategy has resulted in longer waits between major content drops but has also produced shooters with strong mechanical depth and polish.
Fallen Aces remains in early access on Steam, with Episode One available now. The developers have not provided a specific release date for Fallen Aces's second episode beyond confirming a 2026 launch window. Further updates are expected as development continues.
