Budgeten för Grand Theft Auto VI enligt uppgift avslöjad – och den är enorm

Less than six months remain until Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated title of 2026, releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar Games is also planning to start the game’s marketing campaign this summer, which was revealed by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.

Last year, Take-Two’s quarterly earnings call confirmed the budget of Grand Theft Auto VI is more than $1 billion, which makes it the biggest GTA game in history, though the exact number wasn’t mentioned. However, according to Reddit user Due-Vanilla-8294, the game’s budget could be even more than $2 billion and close to $3 billion, as he did some research about Rockstar North’s financials on the UK government website. "I went and looked at some public documents filed on a UK government website detailing the financials of Rockstar Games UK Limited (the corporate name for Rockstar North), and I discovered something interesting that might suggest Rockstar has invested even more than $2B into the game.

Assuming that GTA 6 entered full production in 2019, I compiled all the available financial documents from 2020 to 2026 and looked at the expenses related to employee wages and salaries:

1. From March 31, 2019 to March 31, 2020: £191M
2. From March 31, 2020 to March 31, 2021: £223M
3. From March 31, 2021 to March 31, 2022: £346M
4. From March 31, 2022 to March 31, 2023: £316M
5. From March 31, 2023 to March 31, 2024: £315M
6. From March 31, 2024 to March 31, 2025: £282M

Adding all of these costs brings the total to at least £1.6B.

In USD, that would be roughly $2.1B.

Also, this only accounts for Rockstar North, since the business address listed in the documents (108 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh) corresponds to the Rockstar North building. This means we’re not even including the costs from Rockstar’s other studios.

Rockstar might be heading for the $3B mark."

For comparison, the budget of 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V was around $265 million, and for that time, these numbers were huge. And now, the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto game series could have a budget even ten times bigger—it's truly astonishing.
