Netflix Gears of War-film får spännande uppdatering från regissören

As we know, the new Gears of War video game titled Gears of War: E-Day is in development at The Coalition studio and expected to release this year on PC and Xbox Series X/S. But that’s not the only expansion Gears of War will receive.

Back in 2022, Netflix announced the development of a Gears of War movie, and last year David Leitch (Bullet Train, The Fall Guy, Atomic Blonde) was announced as its director. The fans were absolutely excited with this news, as Leitch recommended himself as a great director of action movies—exactly what they need with Gears of War adaptation. However, since the movie’s announcement, we haven’t heard much about it, but in the recent interview with Collider, David Leitch confirmed that the work on the project is ongoing.

“Gears of War, I think, is going to happen. We have a great draft that's in progress that's in really great shape. The studio's more determined than ever to make it. Netflix is 100% behind it. The Coalition is fired up, as well. They have their game releasing this year, as well, and so it's all lining up that that movie will happen.”

The casting of Gears of War movie adaptation is not announced yet, but recently former WWE superstar Dave Bautista, who is mostly known for Drax role in Guardians of the Galaxy movies, has expressed his desire to play Marcus Fenix, the main character of Gears of War video games.

As for Gears of War video games, the next franchise title, Gears of War: E-Day, will be the prequel to original title. It’s also recently received praising words from game series creator, Cliff Bleszinski, who revealed that the game “gave him goosebumps”. We will see new footage of Gears of War: E-Day at Gears of War: E-Day Direct on June 7, which takes place immediately after Xbox Games Showcase.
