Forza Horizon 5 sålde mer än 5 miljoner exemplar på PlayStation 5

Less than one month remains until the release of Forza Horizon 6—perhaps the most anticipated racing title of 2026. The latest entry in the franchise will be released not only on PC and Xbox Series X/S but also, like its predecessor, for PlayStation 5—also, the release date for Sony’s platform remains unknown.

Anyway, that hasn't stopped gamers from eagerly anticipating the game's release, which is likely to happen later this year. What's more, according to the new research of Virtuos, Forza Horizon 5 sold more than 5 million copies on PlayStation 5 since its release last April. Moreover, it was also one of the best-selling games on PlayStation 5 in 2025. You can check out the statement from Virtous’ website below:

Forza Horizon 5 was one of the best-selling titles on PlayStation 5 in 2025, surpassing 5 million copies sold on the platform and earning widespread acclaim with a 92 Metacritic score. Praised for its stunning visuals, immersive open-world environments, and finely tuned gameplay mechanics, the game set a new benchmark in the racing genre.”

Virtuos also helped Playground Games during the development of Forza Horizon 5, as the studio was responsible for creating about 90% of photo-realistic vehicles, delivering environmental assets and modular structures, developing visual detail elements, producing animations, damage systems, and more. So, the success of the game on the PlayStation 5 is partly thanks to them as well.

As for Forza Horizon 6, the upcoming racing title is also performing well so far in terms of sales, as it recently sold 500,000 copies on Steam. The upcoming racing title from Playground Games takes players to Japan, where Tokyo will be the biggest city in Forza Horizon’s history. It will also include more than 550 vehicles at the start, customization, new racing modes, dynamic changes in weather conditions, the ability to buy houses and decorate garages, and more.
