Insider avslöjar massor av nedklippt innehåll om nya Resident Evil-titlar

Unfortunately, almost every game has cut content, and often many of the elements that were cut end up being more interesting than those that made it into the final version of the game. Capcom's Resident Evil series is no exception.

This year, the studio released Resident Evil Requiem, which has become one of the most successful titles of 2026 so far. According to game series insider Dusk Golem, the game could have been even better if it kept some pretty fun cut features—like the second section of Raccoon City, available for driving, and the mansion from the original Resident Evil title, which also seemingly was available to visit. At the same time, another Resident Evil leaker, Marcox, has revealed even more leaks about cut content in Resident Evil games—specifically, from the latest franchise titles—Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem. You can check out the information provided by scooper, below:

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Cut Content:

Insider Reveals Plenty of Cut Content About Recent Resident Evil Titles 1
  • In the early draft of game’s script, Ethan Winters was supposed to die. Capcom wanted him to be dead by Mia in the first 30 minutes of the gameplay, and then we would play as a private detective who is investigating the disappearance of both characters. Developers decided to drop the idea of a private investigator in favor of building a strong emotional bond between Ethan and Mia.
  • At some point, Ethan was able to save the entire Baker family with a special cure, but it was scrapped to make the story darker and more tragic.
  • The model of Mia Winters was considered as a prototype for Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village before she got her final design with a hat, dress, and huge size.

Resident Evil Village Cut Content:

  • The main villain of the game, Mother Miranda, was originally going to eat the heart of Rosemary Winters, Ethan’s daughter, to take her powers and resurrect his own daughter, instead of ritual scene that we saw in the final version.
  • The original concept of the game was about splitting the story between two different characters and ages: one was living in the modern era, which we seemingly saw in the game, and the other was about to live in the Middle Ages.
  • Ethan had to fight against The Woman with the Veil in the fields; she was the original version of Donna Beneviento, and instead of controlling dolls, she would have had an ability to use dead objects and old clothes, making them attack Ethan like ghosts. The idea was abandoned due to Capcom’s focus on psychological horror aspects in Donna’s house.
  • The giant werewolf monster, Lycan, who commanded giant dogs, and the birth of werewolves from fungal cocoons were scrapped.
  • Fun fact: The child-like monster in the basement of Donna’s house is a manifestation of Ethan Winters’ fear, not a real creature. It represents the character’s fear that his daughter, Rose, might turn into a monster because of him. That is precisely why the monster cannot be killed, since Ethan is in a hallucinatory state.
  • Ethan was also climbing the mountain in the game, where he would face not only blizzards that hindered his progress but also flying monsters.
  • Tumor on Moreau’s back was initially the remains of a woman that he loved before transformation, which would have added more deep and tragic fate to the character.
  • Concept of Lady Dimitrescu's castle initially consisted of hundreds of witches living in there, but it was hard to make from a technical point of view. The villain also had giant garden shears instead of retractable claws as its primary weapon.

Resident Evil Requiem Cut Content:

Insider Reveals Plenty of Cut Content About Recent Resident Evil Titles 3
  • Rosemary Winters was set to become a protagonist in the game alongside Chris Redfield in a mentor role. It was likely in the early stage of game’s development before Capcom decided to end her story in a Shadows of Rose DLC for Resident Evil Village.
  • Speaking of Chris, he was initially to play a role in Requiem similar to what we saw in Resident Evil Village, operating on the battlefield and out of sight of the main characters.
  • Leon S. Kennedy, one of two protagonists, was set to sacrifice himself to finish the biological threat once and for all. It had to be the ending of the game, but Capcom decided to change it because of management and fans’ pressure.

As you can see, there are several intriguing features that could have been incorporated into recent games in the Resident Evil series and potentially made them even more engaging and immersive. Capcom continues to develop the franchise, with a DLC for Resident Evil Requiem confirmed to be in development and the remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica expected to be the studio’s next installment. Moreover, insider Marcox recently revealed the first details of upcoming Resident Evil 10, which is believed to have been in development since 2021, about it's villain, protagonist, and where characters will be involved, which you can check out here.
