CD Projekt RED hävdar att The Witcher 4 och Cyberpunk 2 kommer att undvika Cyberpunk 2077:s misstag
Released in 2020, CD Projekt RED’s new IP, Cyberpunk 2077, has been one of the most exciting and anticipated titles of the generation. Although years later the game became a true classic in the RPG genre, fans cannot forget the catastrophic launch of the game, accompanied by a huge number of technical flaws. That is why fans fear that the upcoming games from the studio, The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, will face the same fate—especially considering that both games will be made on the new engine, Unreal Engine 5, alongside the usual REDengine.
Nevertheless, in a new interview with GamesRadar+, CD Projekt RED’s lead technical writer Jaroslaw Rucinski and senior technical writer Adrian Fulneczek assured fans that they had worked on their mistakes and that The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 would not have the same launch issues as Cyberpunk 2077 did in 2020.
They explained that the problems arose even earlier—back during the development of the first part of The Witcher, because the studio did not engage in system documentation of projects. But by the time it came to the development of Cyberpunk 2077, the studio had accumulated over a thousand pages of documentation, which were scattered across numerous servers. Subsequently, this led to the developers facing a lack of information regarding the project and a problematic launch.
Right now, CD Projekt RED has approached this more responsibly. The studio has unified standards for data storage, and documentation is a mandatory part of each stage of development of any game. Moreover, since the development of The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 is happening simultaneously, developers can share various problems with each other to avoid all sorts of issues.
Despite such optimistic words, earlier one of the developers of CD Projekt RED stated on social networks that The Witcher 4 is expecting an even worse launch than Cyberpunk 2077 due to the fact that management, on the contrary, does not learn from its mistakes. The tweet was subsequently deleted, but the Internet remembers everything.

Neither The Witcher 4 nor Cyberpunk 2 has release dates yet, but fans are hopeful to receive more information about upcoming titles this year. Besides, CD Projekt RED is also working on the remake of the original Witcher video game, developed by Fool’s Theory, as well as on a rumored DLC to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is likely to set up events for the fourth installment. There is also a new IP— Project Hadar, which is rumored to be an action-RPG title with melee-oriented combat, according to company’s vacancies.
