Det ryktas att Microsoft arbetar på ett Halo MMO liknande Destiny 2

One of the major events last month was Bungie's announcement that they would no longer support Destiny 2, which caused quite a stir among players. This move was especially notable given the studio’s decision to focus its efforts on their new game, Marathon, released in March of this year. However, it seems the developers might need to learn from their mistakes: according to insider Tom Henderson, Marathon hasn’t even managed to recoup its costs.

Meanwhile, a new rumor has emerged suggesting that Microsoft is supposedly considering developing an MMO game set in the Halo universe, similar to Destiny 2. The information comes from a Reddit user who cites an insider within the company. It is believed that the original concept came from Obsidian and was approved by Phil Spencer, although the studio itself (Obsidian) will not be working on the project, which currently goes by the codename Team X.

Microsoft considering a Halo MMO in the vein of Destiny 2

This is from a friend who has worked in a position where he would know this information.

For about 1-2 years, Microsoft have been tinkering with the idea of a Halo MMO in the vein of Destiny 2. It is very much in the idea stage, although a small amount of development has occurred to get a feel for gameplay. It has yet to be approved as a full idea.

The idea was put on the table by Obsidian, and Phil Spencer said "give it a go". He was more than happy, since some of the biggest consistent moneymakers for Microsoft are their MMOs - ESO, FO76, and WoW. Obsidian will NOT be making it, though. My friend said it is a team within a studio called 'Team X'.

From what I have heard, you'll play the role of a solider, similar to ODST. Then complete various quests on different planets. PVP, dungeons, and Raids will be there (if approved). Basically, think of Destiny 2 but in the Halo universe.

I'll put 'Grain of Salt', although I trust my source.

As you may know, next month will see the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved —a remake of the original Halo game from 2001. This new version will feature numerous updates, including three new missions that serve as a prequel to the main story. Additionally, it has been reported that Halo Studios has already begun working on remakes of the second and third installments of the franchise.

Regarding the ongoing saga of Destiny 2 and Marathon, Steam users recently noticed a significant increase in player activity for the 2017 game since the release of its latest expansion, The Final Shape—especially in contrast to the disappointing performance of Marathon. According to SteamDB, over the past 24 hours, Destiny 2 had more than 140,000 concurrent players, while Marathon saw just over 14,000.

Microsoft Is Rumored to Be Working on a Halo MMO Similar to Destiny 2 1

Nevertheless, despite potential hints from a Bungie manager involving the number 3, according to Jason Schreier, the studio is currently not working on Destiny 3 due to a lack of sufficient resources.
