Shortly after its long-awaited reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, Persona 6 has received another encouraging development. Atlus' upcoming RPG has reportedly been rated by Australia's Classification Board, suggesting the game is continuing to move through important pre-release milestones.

The rating appeared online before later becoming inaccessible, but screenshots and reports from the community indicate that Persona 6 was assigned an M rating by the Australian Classification Board (ACB).

According to reports, the rating cited content including:

  • Violence
  • Coarse language
  • Nudity

It's important to note that Australia's M classification differs from the ESRB's Mature rating used in North America. In practice, an ACB M rating is generally closer to a Teen rating and does not restrict sales based on age.

However, some fans have pointed out that the classification could still change before launch if additional content is reviewed.

The rating arrives just days after Persona 6 was officially unveiled by Atlus and Sega. The debut trailer offered only a brief look at the game, but confirmed that green will serve as the title's primary theme color, continuing the franchise's tradition of associating each mainline entry with a distinct color identity.

I think the appearance of a rating board classification this early is a positive sign that development is progressing steadily behind the scenes.

Additional reports have also suggested that localization work may already be well underway. Freelance translator Indigozeal recently claimed that script translation for Persona 6 began as early as January 2026 and that their contributions had already been completed before the game's official reveal.

While this information remains unofficial, it has fueled speculation that the project may be further along than many players initially expected.

The latest rating news also coincides with claims from well-known Atlus insider lolilolailo, who previously suggested that Persona 6 could launch in September 2027.

According to the rumor, Atlus plans to release Persona 6 several months after the launch of Persona 4 Revival, which is currently expected in February 2027.

I can see Atlus using the long gap between announcements and release to gradually reveal more details about the game's setting, characters, and combat systems over the next year.

For now, Atlus has yet to announce an official release date, and fans should treat all release window rumors with caution until the studio shares more information.
