As is well known, CD Projekt RED is actively developing new games set in the universes of The Witcher and Cyberpunk. Although these titles still don’t have release dates, they remain the studio's top priorities. One of the most significant differences from their previous games is that The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 are being built using Unreal Engine 5 as their game engine, instead of the REDengine.

It turns out that CD Projekt RED is not only using Unreal Engine 5 as the game engine for developing The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, but also enjoys certain privileges through its partnership with Epic Games. This was revealed by the company's Joint Chief Executive Officer, Michał Nowakowski, during the DevGAMM event. The highlights from his speech, as reported by GRYOnline, you can check out below:

“Epic Games allowed us to look into the Unreal Engine’s black box, I think we are currently the only company outside Epic Games that actually does this thanks to which we actually co-create one of the largest technologies on the market”

It was previously revealed that CD Projekt RED had been working on optimizing Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4 over the course of five years, which could reassure fans concerned about the game's performance. Meanwhile, the studio also hopes to regain the trust of fans disappointed by the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020, which was plagued by catastrophic bugs and numerous technical issues. In addition, the studio is also working on Project Sirius—a multiplayer spin-off set in The Witcher universe—and its new IP, Project Hadar.

The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 are confirmed to be in development for PC, Xbox Xeries X/S, and PlayStation 5. Both projects are still don’t have a release date.
