ARC Raiders-uppdatering 1.39.0 slutar straffa dig för att du slår tillbaka

ARC Raiders update 1.39.0 with patch notes on Steam is live on all platforms, and its headline change is a matchmaking test players have pushed for since launch. Embark is removing the influence of Defensive PvP entirely: only the fights you choose to start now count toward your playstyle estimate, and defending yourself, including knocking out enemies who attacked you first, no longer affects it at all. At launch, fighting back fed your playstyle profile as if you had picked the fight, and an end-of-May update softened that by giving self-defense less weight while still logging it as aggression. This test drops that weight to zero, the version of the change the community kept asking for.

"Only the fights you choose to start will influence your playstyle estimate, and defending yourself won't affect it at all."

Embark also spelled out how the system tells a fight starter from a defender, to head off the obvious confusion. If an enemy squad damages, downs, or knocks out any of your crew first, your whole squad counts as defending, because the side that strikes first is the side that started it.

Weight scales with how serious the encounter is: a drawn-out firefight with heavy damage and multiple downs counts for a lot, while a stray hit or a brief exchange before one side flees still registers as starting a fight but barely moves the needle. Jumping into a fight already underway between two other squads, the classic third-party, also counts as starting one. Embark says it will watch its matchmaking metrics and how PvP develops Topside over the coming weeks before deciding whether the zero-weight approach sticks.

The Store Update 1.38.0 blog post on Steam warned that queues could take longer because the algorithm is now working harder to find a better match, and Embark is running a fresh survey to pair player sentiment with its telemetry. I've felt that solo-versus-trio gap firsthand; my solo runs used to be quiet strolls while trios turned into bloodbaths, and anything that closes it is worth a few extra seconds in the queue. Taking the self-defense penalty to zero is the right call, since punishing players for surviving an ambush only taught them to avoid engaging at all, though I'll be watching whether it nudges people toward baiting the first shot so they can fight freely under the defender label.

The reaction on Reddit has been mostly welcoming, with players glad Embark is acting on feedback, even as several spend the thread correcting a common misread that self-defense was already ignored, when it had only been reduced, not zeroed, until now. The baiting worry surfaced there too, quickly met by players pointing out that inviting the first shot in a game with a one-second time-to-kill is a fast way to just die.

Beyond matchmaking, 1.39.0 fixes the inconsistent damage on the Seeker and Wolfpack grenades, lets the trinkets from the Converging Paths project stack like other trinkets, and drops a new Dweller Outfit in the store. A crossover deadline is attached, too: players have until July 30 at 3PM CEST to finish the required Contracts in THE FINALS and claim the Azimuth outfit and Archaeologist Backpack bundle in ARC Raiders, and after that the reward flips, with the Azimuth bundle earnable in THE FINALS by heading Topside in ARC Raiders. The update lands in a quieter stretch, after Trials Season 5 which started July 7 and the Riven Tides update earlier this year, with the big Frozen Trail update not due until October. ARC Raiders has felt like it is in a slump since Embark cut major drops from monthly to twice a year, so live updates like this one carry the Rust Belt between tentpoles, and a matchmaking fix players actually asked for is a good way to spend that gap. The rest of 1.39.0 is a long list of fixes across audio, cosmetics, maps, stability, and UI, plus the current known issues, and here is the full changelog.
