Resonance: A Plague Tale hyllas av både spelkritiker och spelare

This week, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy—a new game from Asobo Studio and the third installment in the Plague Tale universe—was released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. This new title is a prequel that tells the story of Sophia, a character introduced in A Plague Tale: Requiem. To mark the release, the gaming press and players have already formed their opinions about it, and it seems the consensus is unanimous.

Critics have generally given Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy positive reviews, particularly praising the action elements, which significantly transform the game compared to the first two titles in the series. They also commend the game’s atmosphere and the mystical aspect tied to the main character; among the drawbacks, the weak and predictable plot is cited most frequently. Although Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy doesn't tell the story of Amicia and Hugo, it manages to offer a different perspective to the player. Not only are the graphics impressive, but also the combat, setting, and puzzles which, while becoming tiresome at times, prove to be intelligent and well-developed. This is, without a doubt, one of the best titles of the year.

Between the stunning visuals, emotionally resonant storytelling that spans centuries, and satisfyingly varied gameplay loop, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy impressed me from beginning to end. It ran well with basically no technical issues during my playthrough, and I just had a truly great time playing it. It’s a story and a gameplay experience I’ll be thinking about for quite some time, and that’s really saying something. Whether you’re a longtime Plague Tale fan or new to the franchise, Resonance is well worth picking up if you like a good action-adventure game with a strong narrative at its core.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy executes familiar genre staples and delivers a moving story starring a charismatic pirate on what may be the most impactful and tragic adventure of her life.

If you're a fan of A Plague Tale, you'll find it essential to return to its world with Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. And for those of you who might not be as keen on the series or aren't familiar with it, its more balanced blend of action and puzzles also makes it a very appealing solo adventure, as you don't need to know the series to enjoy it. An excellent adventure to bid farewell to the summer with.

Push Square – 70/100:

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy takes the series in a more combat-focused direction, and it pays off for the most part. This is a strong, cinematic blend of swordfights, puzzles, and parkour that still looks and feels a lot like A Plague Tale experience. A very slow start and a dreadful frame rate mar the third entry, though Resonance still comes out the other side a solid instalment.

As for Resonance: A Plague Tale's Steam ratings, the picture is even better. Currently, over 90% of the game's reviews are positive. That said, the peak number of online players is a mere 5,500.

Now that Asobo Studio has released a new installment in the A Plague Tale universe—and judging by the reviews, the game has been a success—we can only hope that its sales will live up to expectations. What’s more, the studio can now fully focus on developing its new IP, which has already been the subject of rumors.
