Wardogs-utvecklare säger att spelet kommer att bli dyrare

Wardogs launched in Steam Early Access at $40, but you won't always be able to buy the shooter at that price. Bulkhead has confirmed that the game's price will gradually rise as development progresses, and by the full release it could cost almost 50% more.

In an interview at Gamescom, Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer explained that the studio uses a scaling pricing model. In about a year, when Wardogs is expected to reach its "0.5" milestone, the game will cost $49.99, and a year after that the price will rise to $59.99. This means that those who buy the shooter now will pay $20 less than players who wait for the full version. According to Brammer, anyone who wants to can wait until the game has more content and buy it later, while those who want it cheaper can pick it up right now.

Brammer explained that Wardogs is a large-scale FPS with high-end graphics and physics, which makes it expensive to develop and support. "It is a big FPS game that costs money to make. The end," he said. At the same time, the studio head gave a fairly blunt response to players who don't like this policy: "If you don't agree with that, please don't buy it." According to him, those looking for a cheaper shooter can choose other options on the market.

Wardogs Developers Say the Game Will Get More Expensive 1

Bulkhead stresses that the price increase is primarily a way to keep development sustainable. Brammer acknowledged that the studio is setting a precedent, but believes that without raising the price, it would be impossible to support the game in the long term.

As a reminder, Wardogs had one of the biggest launches of the year on Steam. In its first day, the studio sold over a million copies, and in less than five days sales surpassed 2 million. According to SteamDB, the game's peak online reached 428,666 concurrent players on September 13. However, the launch wasn't without its problems: due to the influx of players, Wardogs ran into major server issues, but the situation stabilized after some time.
