Hur man får Witcher 3 Complete Edition gratis om man har ett enkelt spel
CD Projekt Red handed every base-game owner of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt something that usually costs money: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, added to libraries at no charge, plus the Remastered upgrade landing September 29, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. There is no code to redeem, no edition to repurchase and no launcher trick involved. If The Witcher 3 is already attached to your account, the Complete Edition contents are yours, and the answer to "how do I get this for free" is that you already did.
Witcher 3 Complete Edition Update & Remaster
Both story expansions became free for all base-game owners on August 25, the day of the gamescom announcement, so the Complete Edition contents now sit in libraries that only ever held the base game. Remastered arrives September 29 as a free upgrade on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, GOG, Steam, the Epic Games Store and Battle.net, and it replaces the Complete Edition on storefronts rather than sitting beside it as a paid version. The third expansion, Songs of the Past, follows in 2027 as a paid release, and Fool's Theory has said that DLC was impossible without the technical work done for the remaster.
Witcher 3 Remastered Discount on Release Date
The free upgrade covers existing owners, but new buyers get their own incentive: The Witcher 3 Remastered goes on sale at 50% off on PSN, and the discount is live now and stays active for more than ten days past the September 29 release. Launch-day discounts on a brand-new release are rare, and a half-price tag on a package that includes the base game, Hearts of Stone, Blood and Wine and the full remaster is about as low a barrier to entry as an eleven-year-old RPG can offer. CD Projekt Red is also not treating this as a sequel or a new SKU, which is the part worth paying attention to: the studio rebuilt the lighting, combat, mount handling, skill tree and looting systems and then priced the entry point below what most publishers charge for a resolution bump.
This isn't the only moment for dark fantasy fans to fill out a library with a classic at a fraction of the price. Dark Souls: REMASTERED for Xbox is running at 90% off on Eneba right now, and the promo code EGW5 knocks another 5% off any game on the site.
Witcher 3 Complete Edition for PS4
PS4 owners are in a slightly different position, and the rules are simple once you separate two questions: what you own, and where you play it. Owning The Witcher 3 digitally on PS4 means the game stays in your PSN library permanently, playable on PS4 with your trophies and saves intact, and the arrival of Remastered does not remove, lock or replace anything on the older console. The upgrade entitlement is tied to your account, so if you buy a PS5 or PS5 Pro in a year, the Remastered download is waiting for you at no extra cost. If you hold a PS4 disc instead, the free upgrade requires a PS5 with a disc drive, and the disc has to stay in the console while you play.
Staying on PS4 means keeping the 2015 build rather than the remaster. Ray tracing, the reworked global lighting, updated high-resolution textures and the heavier rendering features target current-generation hardware and PC, and they are not coming to last-gen consoles. Some quality-of-life and interface improvements typically filter down through accompanying patches, but the visual overhaul does not.
What You Actually Get in the Remaster
The announcement trailer listed more than thirty changes, and they fall into two groups. The rendering side covers a global lighting rework, a new shading model, subsurface scattering, GTAO ambient occlusion, a new tone mapper, updated textures, a foliage shading rework, refreshed motion blur, HDR and ray tracing improvements, and ray-traced hair. On PC it goes further with path tracing, ray reconstruction, native DirectX 12, rendering parallelisation, Nvidia DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4 and Intel XeSS 2.0.
The gameplay side is the one that matters for anyone who bounced off the original. Combat has a new camera and targeting system with refined animations and new finishers; monster behaviour has been improved to the point where a griffin can block and counterattack, and the skill tree has been restructured into interlocking branches so builds specialise earlier. Mount handling was rebuilt: tighter control at a gallop, new mounting animations, mounting from a wider angle and distance, and herb looting from horseback. Geralt can vault fences and walls, meditation has a proper animation showing time pass, and armour transmogrification lets you change how gear looks without touching stats.
Quest tracking, the UI, menu navigation, the looting system and the tutorial have all been reworked; new accessibility options are in, and cross-platform mod support finally delivers on a promise made years ago.
Platforms, Prices and PC Requirements
Remastered ships on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via GOG, Steam, the Epic Games Store and Battle.net, the last of which is a first for the series and comes with a Geralt skin in Diablo 4 through a CD Projekt Red and Blizzard partnership.
Switch 1 is the one platform with no upgrade path of its own, though owners of the Switch 1 version can claim the native Switch 2 release for free once it launches; on eShop it is a separate 42.3 GB download rated PEGI 18, listed at £45.99 for new buyers, and it appears as its own icon on the Home menu rather than patching the old game.
On PC the bar has moved up without demanding current hardware, and both tiers share the same non-negotiable baseline: 64-bit Windows 11, DirectX 12 and 70 GB of SSD storage.
Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
OS | Windows 11 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
CPU | Intel Core i5-8400/ AMD Ryzen 5 2600 | Intel Core i7-8700K/ AMD Ryzen 5 3600X |
GPU | GTX 1660 6GB/ RX 5500 XT 8GB/ Intel Arc A580 | RTX 2060 SUPER/ RX 6600 XT/ Intel Arc B580 |
RAM | 12 GB | 16 GB |
Storage | 70 GB SSD | 70 GB SSD |
API | DirectX 12 | DirectX 12 |
The original launched with a Core i5-2500K and a GTX 660 as its floor, so the gap is real, and anyone still on Windows 10 or a mechanical drive has planning to do before September 29. Battle.net lists the figures as preliminary, which leaves room for adjustment closer to release.
New DLC: Songs of the Past

Songs of the Past releases in 2027 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, and unlike everything above it is a paid expansion. Fool's Theory is co-developing it with CD Projekt Red; it is roughly the size of Blood and Wine, and it takes Geralt to Letten, a new region built on English and Polish rural landscapes rather than the war-scarred Northern Kingdoms. The studio calls Letten a fully realised open world with upgraded NPC systems so crowds behave more believably.
The story turns on Dandelion. He goes missing, Geralt investigates his aristocratic family and a mystery centred on the Garden of Thorns, and the region's sunlit opening curdles as the trees twist and settlements sit overgrown. Fool's Theory has confirmed Dandelion's role is a serious one this time, pushing past the comedic-relief reading toward the Oxenfurt professor and poet underneath. New enemies include Thornblooms, immobile flowers that flail at anything nearby, and Swarmion, humanoids carrying hornet shields, and Geralt gains a hooked chain that drags enemies into melee range. This is his last outing before Ciri takes over in The Witcher 4, targeting 2028.
Should You Claim It Now or Wait for 2027?

Claim it now, because claiming costs nothing and changes nothing: the expansions are already in your library, the remaster patches in on September 29, and waiting gains you no advantage. The real question is when to play, and there the split is honest. Starting in September gets you the rebuilt combat, mounts and skill tree a year early, along with more Gwent waiting in Songs of the Past whenever you return. Waiting until 2027 lets you run the base game, both original expansions and the finale in one uninterrupted 200-hour pass, which is a legitimate reason to hold off if you already finished the game once.
I bought the trilogy at 80% off two years ago and then got both expansions handed to me for free this year, which is not how most publishers treat a decade-old purchase. I am still willing to pay for The Witcher 3 a second time because I want to run it on PS5. And I have never actually finished it, which I count as an advantage here: my first real playthrough will be the remastered one.
The Witcher 3 walked out of the Gamescom Awards 2026 with the most trophies of any game at the show, taking Best Booth, Best Merch and Best Trailer, which is a strange and telling result for a title released in 2015. And The Blood of Dawnwalker, built by ex-CD Projekt Red developers who worked on The Witcher 3, sold 1 million copies in a little over two days.
