Infinity Ward planerar att återuppliva Modern Warfare IV i Call of Duty-seriens rötter
This week, Activision and Infinity Ward presented a new part of Call of Duty - it turned out, as rumors had previously claimed, to be the fourth part of Modern Warfare. Shortly after the official announcement, the developers revealed the first details of the game, stating that they want to return the franchise to its roots.
In particular, this was stated by multiplayer creative director Joe Cocot in a recent interview with PC Gamer, where he explained the recent significance of the fact that Infinity Ward's games "hit different". The highlights from his interview you can check out below:
“What I want to make sure we say is that this is not in any way to put down the other Call of Duty studios or anything. We have a history of really pushing ourselves on quality, and I think with we pushed really hard to reinvigorate the franchise. To go back to our roots and say "What is a modernized Modern Warfare for today?" And that's what we do with every game. It's something that permeates the whole studio in every department.”
Many fans also noted the improved visual aspect in the Modern Warfare IV trailer, but at the same time, they considered it just a cinematic, having nothing to do with the actual gameplay. Nevertheless, t he official Call of Duty account on X confirmed that almost 90% of the shots from the Reveal Trailer are rendered on the game engine, meaning players will see approximately this kind of picture on their screens.
90% of the footage from the Reveal Trailer is in-engine and trust us, there's more where that come from
Other gameplay videos of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV have also appeared online, confirming that the developers have worked significantly on the animation in the game. Players can now use something like parkour, climbing various structures, as well as use a variety of different positions, including slides, climbs, and using the environment as support.
In addition, Infinity Ward has redesigned the class creation interface system, and now it looks just like in the original Modern Warfare games. Moreover, it is possible to assign certain characters to a specific class using various perks. By the way, visually the system also looks quite nice.
Among other details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV, it is known that the new main character, Private Park, will be at the center of the plot—he finds himself in the middle of a military conflict between South Korea and North Korea. Captain Price will also appear in the game but will act as the creator of an unsanctioned alliance, working separately from Task Force 141 and official authorities.
Another important point is the return of the DMZ mode, which had been rumored earlier. The developers promise to significantly improve the game mode, creating a living world - with dynamic weather changes and enemies with improved AI—and it is suggested that each round in DMZ will not be like the previous one.
