Hytale will enter early access on January 13, 2026, marking a return for a project once written off after its cancellation earlier this year. The game, which began as a custom Minecraft server before expanding into a full sandbox RPG, spent months in uncertainty following its shutdown. Development resumed six months later, and Hypixel Studios now says the team is ready to open the project to players, despite its condition.

Pre-orders begin December 13. Hypixel stresses that buyers should expect an unstable product. The studio’s announcement is blunt about the current quality of the game and the limits of the upcoming build.

"It's still very much unfinished and broken," the announcement states.

"But you have my and the team's commitment to make Hytale the game we've always wanted it to be. The game isn't good yet; eventually, it will be."

Developers are advising players to hold off if they expect a polished experience. They add that early access is not being positioned as a pressure tactic to drive sales. Instead, the message leans toward caution and tempered expectations for anyone considering the $20 base version.

"If you don't feel comfortable pre-ordering or participating in Early Access, please don't," the message notes.

Hypixel frames this phase as a starting point for long-term iteration rather than a showcase of a near-final product. The team acknowledges substantial work ahead but says transparency is central to rebuilding trust after last year’s abrupt halt.

Players who choose to participate are expected to encounter bugs, missing features, and incomplete systems. Hypixel says this is intentional, giving creators access from day one. According to the studio, the early access period is structured to let modders, server operators, and content creators begin shaping the ecosystem well before the full release. The team highlights this as a productive moment for contributors willing to work within a rough framework.

"...They're ready for players who want to create content on day 1," the statement explains. "This is a good moment for modders, server owners, and creators to step in early!"

The announcement also notes that the first impression will likely be difficult, but the broader development journey is the priority.
