High On Life 2 släpps till Xbox, PlayStation och PC
High On Life 2 will launch on February 13, 2026, across Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation, and PC. Squanch Games is expanding the franchise after the first game reached over seven million players and earned commercial success on Xbox Game Pass and Steam.
The sequel introduces a story shift and a new antagonist. Players assume the role of a protagonist with a high bounty on his sister, Lizzy, placing him on the wrong side of the law. The plot centers on protecting Lizzy from Rhea Pharmaceuticals, replacing the G3 cartel as the main threat.
“Although your character comes across as a bit of a jerk, he will do everything in his power to protect his sister from all kinds of threats.” — Gareth Hinton
Gameplay will include new mechanics such as skateboard traversal and an expanded arsenal of talking guns. Players will explore additional alien worlds designed to build on the immersive environments of the original. Squanch Games aims to maintain the story-driven tone while introducing new combat and traversal systems.
High On Life 2 will not be an Xbox exclusive. While the original launched first on Xbox and PC, it later appeared on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. This sequel will release simultaneously across multiple platforms, including PlayStation, ending speculation of console exclusivity. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access from day one.
Squanch Games initially planned for a late 2025 release but postponed the launch to February 2026. The delay allows additional development time for gameplay improvements, story refinement, and platform optimization.
The first High On Life received praise for its story, world design, and voice acting but faced criticism for limited combat depth, niche humor, and relatively short length. The sequel is positioned to address these issues while retaining the elements that drew players to the franchise.
High On Life 2 continues the series’ emphasis on narrative and character interaction. The protagonist’s transition from a familiar hero to a morally complicated figure is intended to introduce tension and choices within the story. Rhea Pharmaceuticals provides a corporate antagonist contrast to the original game’s cartel-based threats.
New traversal and combat features will change the pace of exploration. The skateboard mechanic allows faster movement across diverse environments, while additional talking weapons offer expanded combat strategies. Alien worlds are designed with interactive elements to encourage exploration and engagement.

Squanch Games has committed to launching on multiple platforms without locking content behind exclusivity. This strategy aligns with broader trends in the industry, where previously exclusive franchises are reaching wider audiences on PlayStation and PC alongside Xbox.
High On Life 2’s development reflects Squanch Games’ attempt to balance continuity with innovation. Core story elements remain intact, but gameplay and setting updates are intended to make the sequel stand out in a crowded first-person shooter market. The February 13 release provides time to finalize these systems and prepare simultaneous global distribution.
Pre-orders are available now across major digital storefronts. Players will be able to experience the game’s new story, combat options, and exploration mechanics from launch.
