Bluepoint Games ville göra ytterligare två remakes innan nedläggningen
PlayStation gamers have been disappointed, as last week it was revealed Sony decided to shut down Bluepoint Games—a studio that has been responsible for the remakes of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus. It was the twelfth studio closed by PlayStation over the last few years, and now Bluepoint Games has joined the company of Evolution Studios (Driveclub), Firework Studios (Concord), Japan Studio (Knack), and many more.
As was revealed by the latest Bloomberg report, Sony’s decision to shut down Bluepoint Games was described as “following a business review.” However, according to the gaming newsmaker Detective Seeds, the studio pitched some intriguing ideas to PlayStation before the closure. It was confirmed Bluepoint Games worked on a live-service game in God of War universe before the project was cancelled. After that, the studio offered to make 4 new video games for Sony, and two of them were remakes. Unfortunately, the titles and the details of these titles are not mentioned, and more information can be checked below:
- Bluepoint pitched a God of War live-service game during the development of Ragnarok;
- PlayStation approved it to bolster their live-service portfolio
- Project was eventually shuttered after Bluepoint missed several deadlines and struggled with the scale and “out of character” nature of live-service development;
- Scrutiny on the project intensified significantly following Concord failure;
- Four separate projects were pitched;
- They came after GOW cancellation;
- 2 of them were single player remakes;
- Sony felt they lacked market potential;
- None greenlit at time of studio closure;
- One of the projects Bluepoint pitched is allegedly now being developed by a different studio;
- Morale soured heavily after the God of War cancellation and the series of rejected pitches;
Considering Bluepoint Games wanted to make two single-player remakes, it’s possible that one of them is the remake of 2015’s Bloodborne for PlayStation 5 and PC, which was rumored to be in development, as especially a lot of players wanted to see that game. Bluepoint Games has recommended themselves as proper remake developers thanks to the remakes of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, so Bloodborne’s remake was seen to be a logical step. However, we may never know what the studio actually wanted to make after PlayStation shut them down.
