Eidos Montreals grundare, Stéphane D'Astous, vill skapa ytterligare ett Deus Ex-spel

It has been nearly 10 years since the last installment of Deus Ex, titled Mankind Divided, was released. This is partly due to the fact that Eidos Montreal has been going through some challenging times— the studio has already undergone multiple rounds of layoffs but, according to rumors, is still working on several projects.

It turns out that not only fans but also developers want to see a new Deus Ex. Recently, Stéphane D'Astous, the founder of Eidos Montreal and former general manager of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, gave an interview to Thunderpick, where he shared his thoughts on how game development has changed today. He also mentioned that many executives in high positions are not interested in creating truly creative products. During the conversation, D'Astous expressed his desire to make a new Deus Ex by bringing together former developers who genuinely love the game series. The highlights from his interview you can check out below:

“The people with the money and the decision power are much fewer, and their pockets are much deeper. Plus, they don’t have the same DNA of the decision maker 15 years ago; it’s much more Excel than passion-driven.

The teams were quite small back in 2005-06, and it gave birth to a bigger, ambitious game, which is a logical business creative process to follow. Not having the discipline of saying ‘no’ to what we call ‘scope creep.’ Somebody must say if it’s not reasonable, to say no. All this is also to have proper stage-gating, because this will avoid digging the hole deeper if it’s in a bad way.

I would definitely be able to gather former employees who worked on it[Deus Ex[and other people that would love to work on it.”

Just over six months ago, news broke that Eidos Montreal had canceled not only a new Deus Ex video game but also a dark fantasy ARPG about vampires, featuring parkour elements and a focus on close combat. Additionally, insider Tom Henderson revealed that the studio was working on a Lord of the Rings universe title in the style of Telltale Games. It was also disclosed that Eidos Montreal had canceled Wildlands, an open-world game that had been in development for seven years and was even slated for release this year. According to the latest information, the studio is currently working on a game set in the Alien universe, described as “Shadow of the Tomb Raider with Xenomorphs.” However, the studio has yet to officially announce this project.
