FromSoftware avslöjar slutgiltig statistik för Elden Ring DLC:s nya klasser
FromSoftware has locked in the final names and stats for the two new classes coming to Elden Ring, the hulking Heavy Knight and the nimble Idus Knight, and one of them has already picked up a small nerf before launch. In a message on X, FromSoftware revealed the numbers for both, closing the gap between last year's playtest leaks and what players will actually get.
The pair arrive in the Tarnished Pack, the roughly $5 DLC first shown for Elden Ring's Switch 2 debut. Pricing has only been confirmed in Japan so far, at 550 yen, which is where the rough $5 estimate comes from. New DLC was announced to land on August 28, the same day Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition brings the game to Switch 2, and it drops on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox for existing players too. Beyond the two classes, the pack folds in new weapons, extra armor and character skins, and fresh customization options for Torrent.
Here are the new Elden Ring class stats:
Stat | Knight of Idus | Heavy Knight |
Level | 7 | 10 |
Vigor | 10 | 14 |
Mind | 12 | 8 |
Endurance | 11 | 17 |
Strength | 13 | 15 |
Dexterity | 15 | 11 |
Intelligence | 8 | 7 |
Faith | 11 | 8 |
Arcane | 6 | 9 |
For Switch 2 owners, the Tarnished Pack comes bundled inside Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which packs the base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and all of the pack's content into one $79.99 release. That version had a rough road, originally set for late 2025 before FromSoftware delayed it into 2026 to fix performance on Nintendo's hardware, with an apology at the time. Pre-orders throw in a pair of gestures, Ring Pose and Miquella's Ring.
The Heavy Knight is the one that got trimmed. It now starts at level 10 rather than the level 8 seen in last year's playtest, with the two extra points landing in Faith and Mind. That sounds trivial, and for most players it is, but Elden Ring gives one stat point per level and makes each level cost more than the last, so a lower starting level means fewer points wasted on stats a build never touches. On paper the Heavy Knight is a tank: 14 Vigor, 17 Endurance, and 15 Strength, with almost nothing spare for magic. The community had a whole discourse over how aggressively the class was min-maxed, and FromSoftware quietly answered it. In practice the change barely registers outside speedruns and challenge runs. Everywhere else, the Heavy Knight is still a big body in heavy armor swinging a curved greatsword, both pieces new to the pack.
The Idus Knight is the more eye-catching addition, an agile swordsman built to rival the base game's Samurai. It starts at level 7 and arrives kitted out, with a flashy new armor set, a shield, and the Milady light greatsword, a weapon that was previously locked behind the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and took hours to earn. Its spread leans into 15 Dexterity and 13 Strength, the profile of a fast, weapon-focused duelist, and statistically it reads like a slight upgrade over the Samurai, trading a little Arcane, Vigor, and Intelligence for more Faith and Strength while starting a level lower. It is described in-game as "a knight of the land of Idus, famed for their lightweight attire." That nation, Idus, has never been mentioned in Elden Ring before, and it will almost certainly exist only in the item descriptions of the knight's armor.
The reveal shows how far Elden Ring's reach now stretches, and none of that would matter if the base game had faded, but it hasn't. Its influence turned up in Clair Obscur's hardest fight, where Sandfall's hidden boss Simon, beaten by fewer than 16 percent of players, was modeled on Malenia's structure of a slow start that erupts into chaos. Sandfall's Guillhaume Broche said the team chased the "aura" of Malenia's deceptively simple design.
"The idea is that he is kind of downplayed in the beginning, he seems weak, and then becomes absolute hell in phase 2."
— Guillhaume Broche
It shows up elsewhere too. The new Tomb Raider game's boss fights are being designed around the same idea, using Malenia-style visual and audio cues to keep encounters tough but fair.
The franchise is jumping mediums entirely. Elden Ring film Stormveil scenes are reportedly shooting at Conwy Castle in Wales for Alex Garland's A24 adaptation, staging a pre-Shattering version of the fortress, which points to a Godrick-free, still-functioning castle rather than the corrupted ruin players know. The Hollywood Reporter pegs the adaptation as A24's biggest yet, north of $100 million, with Cailee Spaeny leading a cast that includes Nick Offerman and Kit Connor; it opens in IMAX in March 2028.
So no, I don't think Elden Ring's potential is anywhere near tapped out, between the DLC, the copycats, and a nine-figure film on the way. What I keep waiting for is a brand-new FromSoftware project that lands on all the platforms I actually own. The studio's next big swing, The Duskbloods, is a Switch 2 exclusive, and I'd love its next one to meet PC and PlayStation players where they are instead.
Elden Ring itself remains one of FromSoftware's biggest successes, a 2022 Game of the Year whose Shadow of the Erdtree expansion earned its own nomination, which is exactly why the studio keeps finding new corners of it to sell. The Duskbloods is the FromSoft project drawing the most curiosity right now, an eight-player PvPvE game that throws Bloodborne's gothic mood, Sekiro's Eastern flavor, and Dark Souls character design into a blender with jetpacks and playable dinosaurs. The reveal trailer showed jetpacks, dinosaurs, and creepy moons, but the studio has shown almost nothing of the actual game since April 2025, and it remains locked to Switch 2, with no firm release date beyond a 2026 target that could still slip into 2027.
Also, FromSoftware is running a closed network test for The Duskbloods on Switch 2 from August 21 to 24, with registration open until July 28; taking part needs both a Switch 2 and an active Switch Online membership, and the server windows run in tight blocks, including a few in the small hours.
