Capcom avslöjade uppdaterad försäljning av Resident Evil Requiem och Pragmata

In the first half of 2026, Capcom released two major single-player titles: Requiem, the newest entry in its flagship Resident Evil franchise, and a brand-new IP, Pragmata. Both games earned critical acclaim and were far from financial flops—quite the opposite, in fact, as the studio's latest financial report confirms.

Capcom has published updated financial data for the current fiscal quarter (April to June), offering a look at how its new titles are performing. Resident Evil Requiem, already the franchise's fastest-selling game, has now sold 8 million copies, cementing that position further. Pragmata's numbers are more modest by comparison, but 2.5 million copies against such big competition on the market is still a solid result for a new IP.

Additionally, it’s come out that older Resident Evil titles sold another million-plus copies combined over the past few months. That includes the Resident Evil 2 remake (19.7 million), Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (18.4 million), Resident Evil 4 remake (16 million), Resident Evil Village (15.8 million), and Resident Evil 3 remake (14.5 million). Altogether, the franchise's total sales now sit at 213 million copies, surpassing Final Fantasy and making Resident Evil the best-selling game series from a Japanese studio outside Nintendo, with Mario and Pokémon ahead of it.

“Resident Evil has officially sold over 213 million units, which makes it beat out the Wii game series & Final Fantasy to become the 8th top selling game franchise of all time, & actually the highest selling Japanese third-party game ever.”

Capcom clearly plans to keep developing the game series, as new mainline entries and remakes of older titles will now release annually, alongside massive, multi-hour DLC expansions. Currently confirmed projects include Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the original 2000 game, and a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, both set to release in 2027.

As for Pragmata, the studio has previously hinted at a possible sequel, and game director Yonghee Cho has claimed he would like to make another game—though nothing has been decided yet. Considering the title already teases a sequel and fans have responded well to it, a second installment seems like a matter of when, not if.

Despite Pragmata’s success, both financial and critical, Yonghee Cho recently revealed the early builds of the game looked unimpressive—so much so that Capcom nearly canceled the project. However, that led to a major overhaul, resulting in the game we have today.
