There are just a few days to go until the start of Gamescom 2026 – one of the biggest gaming events of the year. As you may know, it will also feature Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, and this is where we can expect announcements of new games and the reveal of new details, including the screening of new trailers for existing titles.

Not long ago, information from reliable insider NateTheHate surfaced, suggesting that Xbox is preparing to announce a new game at Gamescom. He added that it would be a sequel to one of Microsoft’s franchises, but that a different studio would be responsible for its development – which, according to the insider, is causing some interest. Meanwhile, another well-known insider, Kiri_Kis557, stated on the ResetEra forum that one of Saber Interactive’s divisions is working on a new instalment in the Ori series. According to his information, a full announcement was planned for the autumn Xbox Developer Direct, but a teaser for the project at Gamescom is quite likely, as you can check out his words below:

New Ori Video Game Is Rumored to Be Announced at Gamescom 2026 1

So no new info about this cryptic Xbox game on Gamescom ONL?

So if there's no new information, I'll share what I've heard. It’s a new Ori game being developed by one of Saber Interactive's divisions. But announcement was preparing for the fall dev_direct, I don't know if it's will be on gamescom, like teaser maybe.

Kiri_Kis557’s comments are entirely consistent with the information provided by NateTheHate, and it cannot be ruled out that this is indeed an announcement regarding a new installment in the Ori series. It is quite possible that Saber Interactive will make significant changes to the concept of the universe, and it is not out of the question that we might see, for instance, a change in genre.

Ori and the Blind Forest, the original installment in the franchise, was released in 2015, receiving glowing reviews from players and critics for its stunning visual style, engaging storyline, beautiful soundtrack, game design, and compelling gameplay mechanics. The sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, was released in 2020 and was also very warmly received by the gaming press and gamers alike. Both games were developed by Moon Studios, which also released No Rest for the Wicked in 2024.

Xbox has previously confirmed the line-up of games set to feature at Gamescom 2026 —visitors will be able to try out Fable, Gears of War: E-Day (story campaign), Minecraft Dungeons II, Stranger Than Heaven, Metro 2039, and the 6v6 multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Additionally, previously released titles—Halo: Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024—will also have their own stands.
