Kratos verkar befinna sig i antikens Grekland på den nya skärmdumpen av God of War, Laufey

Pre-orders for God of War: Laufey—Santa Monica Studio’s next major project and one of the most anticipated games of 2027’s first half—will begin in just a few hours. Following the recent reveal of pre-order bonuses, users have also taken notice of new screenshots from God of War, one of which offers an intriguing glimpse into Kratos’s possible involvement in the new game.

As noted by IGN, in one of the new screenshots from God of War: Laufey, we see Faye and Kratos in the Ancient Greece setting, which raises some concerns. The thing is, when Kratos was in Ancient Greece, he hadn’t yet met the titular heroine. Most likely, this scene is a reference to similar scenes from God of War: Ragnarök, when Faye appeared in Kratos’s dreams. Santa Monica previously showed how Kratos appears in God of War: Laufey; specifically, when the debut gameplay was shown and the setting was revealed, the hero literally appeared in front of the heroine before vanishing. And most likely, we can expect something similar in this case.

A new look at God of War: Laufey has fans wondering what exactly is going on with Kratos.

The image appears to show Kratos and Faye in an ancient Greek setting, people think the game could have some playable area connected to Kratos’ past.

Kratos’ beard also got an upgrade.

As is well known, God of War: Laufey takes place in the so-called Everywhen—the transcendent afterlife realm of the gods—and Santa Monica has confirmed it unfolds in parallel with God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok, since Faye essentially finds herself in the afterlife, trying to escape and reunite with her family.

Additionally, the studio is also working on God of War Trilogy Remake, which was announced this past February, and Amazon is developing a TV series adaptation of the 2018 video game. Dave Bautista will portray Kratos, replacing Ryan Hurst, who suffered a serious injury earlier during production.

As for God of War Laufey, the game releases on February 16, 2027, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
