Overwatch säsong 3 lanseras med ny hjälte Shion, Anima Strike-evenemang och mer
Overwatch Season 3 is now live, bringing a new hero, limited-time events, quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and a fresh batch of rewards for players to unlock.
The update continues Blizzard's efforts to expand the game following its major relaunch earlier this year, adding both gameplay content and story developments to the growing roster.
Shion Joins the Overwatch Roster
The headline addition in Season 3 is Shion, the newest DPS hero to arrive in Overwatch.
Armed with dual Kira pistols, Shion specializes in high mobility and aggressive combat. Her kit includes a quick dash ability, the option to ride her motorcycle during matches, and a unique attack that lets her launch the bike at enemies for significant damage.
Her Ultimate ability sends Shion charging forward three times while unleashing a barrage of gunfire.
On the lore side, Shion is a senior member of the Hashimoto Clan and has connections to several established characters, including Kiriko, Mizuki, Hanzo, and Genji. Her debut cinematic also featured a confrontation with Sojourn during an investigation into weapons trafficking linked to Talon's current leader, Vendetta.
I think Shion has one of the more creative hero designs Blizzard has introduced in recent seasons, especially thanks to the motorcycle-focused abilities.

Anima Strike Event Begins June 16
Season 3 also introduces Anima Strike, a new meta event running from June 16 through July 6.
The event takes players across multiple locations in Tokyo on a new hybrid map while completing challenges and progressing through a rotating event hub. Each week features a different themed layout:
- Neon Junction
- Yokai Hideout
- Hashimoto Headquarters
Players who complete the Prestige track can choose an alternate progression path before the weekly reset.
Rewards available during Anima Strike include:
- Up to 18 Loot Boxes
- 3 Epic Loot Boxes
- 3 Legendary Loot Boxes
- Exclusive cosmetic items
More Limited-Time Events on the Way
Anima Strike won't be the only event featured this season.
From June 30 to July 13, Blizzard will launch the Community Crafted Arcade event, featuring modified hero abilities and experimental gameplay rules designed by the community.
Season 3 will also see the return of:
- Junkrat's Loot Hunt
- Excavation Initiative
Both events offer additional rewards and opportunities to earn more loot boxes throughout the season.
I can see Anima Strike becoming one of the season's biggest attractions given the amount of rewards and progression systems tied to the event.
Quality-of-Life Updates and Fixes
In addition to new content, Season 3 includes a number of improvements to make gameplay smoother, as well as bug fixes aimed at improving the game's overall stability. You can find all the changes on the official website.
The update follows a busy period for Overwatch, which recently faced criticism during its 10th Anniversary celebration regarding reward availability and progression requirements. Blizzard responded by increasing rewards and adjusting event challenges, changes that were generally welcomed by the community.
With a brand-new hero, multiple limited-time events, and a large collection of unlockable cosmetics, Season 3 is shaping up to be one of Overwatch's most content-packed updates of the year.
