Capcom avslöjade varför Ada Wong inte återvände i Resident Evil Requiem

Ada Wong is one of the most popular and recognizable characters in Resident Evil lore, and she also has a special connection to Leon S. Kennedy. Given that Leon is one of the two protagonists in the franchise’s new game, Resident Evil Requiem, fans had hoped to see her make a cameo appearance, but that didn’t happen.

During the latest interview with Denfaminicogamer, Resident Evil Requiem’s director Koshi Nakanishi and the game’s producer Masato Kumazawa confirmed that Capcom did indeed consider including Ada Wong in the ninth installment of the game. Unfortunately, during development, the studio’s representatives could not reach a consensus on how to incorporate the character, so they decided not to include her and instead focus on the story of Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft.

"Of course, various character names were suggested during the development. But quite simply, within the context of telling Leon and Grace’s story in the game, there just weren’t many opportunities to include them—or rather, there weren’t any scenes where their inclusion felt necessary.

We did have discussions where we would say, “I’d like to include that character,” but since Leon and Grace’s story had been crafted to feel satisfyingly complete, that’s the decision we ultimately made"

In the same interview, Nakanishi and Kumazawa also shared updated information about the upcoming DLC for Resident Evil Requiem and teased that the game will receive a mini-game this week. As for story expansion for Requiem, it’s been rumored that Leon S. Kennedy will be its main character, with both Ada Wong and Grace Ashcroft possibly involved. There is also information from insider Marcox that the upcoming story expansion will present a “true ending” to Requiem and set up events for Resident Evil 10.
