Xbox-filer antyder att GTA 6 Multiplayer kommer att säljas separat från huvudspelet

Rockstar Games has officially announced that pre-orders for GTA 6 are now available worldwide. They also reminded fans that by pre-purchasing the game, they will receive an exclusive Vintage Vice City Pack. Meanwhile, as fans eagerly await the next trailer for the most anticipated game of 2026, they continue to dig for new and exciting information about GTA 6. This time, their attention has turned to files hinting at the future release of a standalone multiplayer title.

Users on X noticed the files for GTA 6 in the Xbox Series X/S version of the game. They pointed out that a file named "Story" exists separately, and, interestingly, it is marked as "doesn't need to be installed." This apparently means that the multiplayer mode of GTA 6 will not only be sold separately— confirming earlier PlayStation page information that GTA 6 is primarily a single-player game—but also that you won't need to download the single-player mode in order to install the multiplayer.

GTA 6’s files on Xbox seem to indicate Story Mode can be downloaded separately, likely allowing you to have Online installed without story or vice versa.

Rockstar Games did something similar with Red Dead Redemption 2 and its online mode, Red Dead Online, which can be purchased separately to play only multiplayer. However, the studio has not made any official statements on this matter so far.
