This week promises to be extremely exciting for all video game fans. Not only is Gamescom 2026, one of the biggest gaming events of the year, taking place in Germany, but this week will also see the new, official presentation of GTA 6—the most anticipated game of 2026. As we know, the premiere of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will take place on Netflix this Thursday, right in the middle of the exhibition, which will undoubtedly have an impact on the number of views for the Gamescom live stream.

Despite tough competition, Stefan Heikhaus, brand director at Gamescom, stated in a recent interview with GamesRadar+ that he is not concerned that the audience watching the presentation will be significantly smaller because of GTA 6, as Gamescom will be showcasing not just one, but hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of games. According to Heikhaus, people will definitely return to watching Gamescom following the presentation of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix, and you can check out his full comments below:

“At events like Gamescom, not only can you experience one game, but thousands of games, or at least hundreds. And this is the important difference. Of course, GTA will take some visibility and awareness from the digital Gamescom. But I believe that quickly, people will come back to Gamescom once they have seen the GTA content, because there are so many things, so many world premieres, so much new stuff to see, to experience. Hundreds of studios and companies.”

It is reported that Rockstar had planned to reveal GTA 6 gameplay for the first time during An Extended Look, but last week saw a major leak of the game, which, incidentally, is still ongoing. The hacker responsible, known as Cyberleek, has so far released 10 gameplay videos. On August 23, two new GTA 6 gameplay videos have surfaced: in the first of these, we see Jason driving through Leonida Keys and encountering one of the NPCs at a petrol station, and at the end we see part of a cutscene and the first mention of Lucia. In the latest, tenth video, Jason is already flying a plane over Vice City at night.

As for Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look itself, as reported by the BBC, the presentation will last 30 minutes. And according to insider information, we’ll be treated to a full look at the gameplay, the reveal of the cast, and a bunch of the game’s mechanics and activities.

Meanwhile, Gamescom 2026 will take place from August 26 to August 30, 2026, in Cologne, Germany, with the Opening Night Live kickoff showcase streams on Tuesday evening, August 25.
