Highguard-utvecklarna förväntade sig inte att spelet skulle ha så mycket hat

To say Highguard has been a disappointment means saying nothing. Among more than 30,000 reviews on Steam, the game is still having mostly negative status, and it’s also been the worst game of 2026 on Metacritic - the user's score is currently 2.3.

In the recent interview with Dexerto, Highguard’s creative and design director Jason McCord reveals Wildlight Entertainment didn’t expect the game to have so much hate, and the developers were confident they’re creating something unique among first-person shooters.

“It always comes down to the fact that we had a game that you couldn’t find anywhere else, – So we felt very confident in that. We were very excited that night. We were all partying at the TGA party afterwards. We were just excited to get the game out there, you know?

“The most important thing for us as a live service game… is to get eyeballs on your game. There’s always a concern that the market is saturated. People are always going to ask, why should I care about this game? And you need to have an answer to that. We didn’t set out to make a hero shooter. Heroes were introduced because they made the game better. They came in much later.”
