4A Games avslöjade den nya trailern för Metro 2039 på öppningskvällen

One of the best trailers shown during Opening Night Live last night was the new trailer for Metro 2033—a new entry in the series from the Ukrainian studio 4A Games. Mostly, it focused on gameplay, but it also provided a glimpse into the story’s narrative.

Before the trailer called 'Renegade' was shown, Metro 2039’s developers took the stage at Opening Night Live and confirmed that the game will be the darkest in the franchise’s history—and the gameplay trailer certainly conveys that feeling. We see the player battling enemies and monsters in narrow, dark tunnels, but at the same time, part of the game will take place in open areas of a ruined moscow—and we must admit, the graphics and level of detail are extremely high. The trailer also highlights the storyline, specifically the protagonist, The Stranger’s, battle against the Novoreich and its leader, Hunter. You can check out the new Metro 2039 trailer below:

Among the other features revealed in the trailer and confirmed by the developers, the weapon-upgrade system in Metro 2039—which utilizes blueprints—will be a key part of the game, giving players a real advantage over the monsters. Incidentally, the monsters have now become even more deadly, while the enemies are smarter, operating in groups and employing various tactical approaches.

Gamescom attendees will also be able to try out a playable demo of Metro 2039 and share their impressions. The events of Metro 2039 are taking place in 2039's moscow, after the events of Metro Exodus, and returning to the franchise's roots, focusing on gameplay in enclosed spaces, including tunnels and catacombs. Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the Metro books, who is involved in the game’s development as one of its writers.

Metro 2039 is confirmed to release next February on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 with the exact date is currently unknown.
