Next week, Crimson Desert, one of the best RPGs of 2026, will receive its first DLC, titled “Charting the Unknown.” Initially, it was scheduled for release on October 15, but the developers recently announced a delay. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long, and Pearl Abyss has released a new trailer for Charting the Unknown, revealing what players can expect—and there are quite a few changes in store.

The developers shared a video over 6 minutes long showcasing footage from Charting the Unknown and provided detailed information about the new features coming to Crimson Desert Enhanced. In terms of the story, the DLC will continue the events of the original game; Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka set out to explore the ocean of Pywell, meeting new characters along the way. It is these sea travels, along with exploring the underwater world and building ships, that will be the main highlights of Charting the Unknown. But beyond that, characters will also be able to form romantic relationships, build and fully customize their own houses, construct castles and strongholds, and more. Additionally, for fans of hardcore combat, there will be the opportunity to take on new challenges against Pywell’s most dangerous enemies. Charting the Unknown will be released on October 29 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Mac. Crimson Desert Enhanced has become one of the most financially successful games of 2026—as of June, over 6 million copies had been sold across all platforms, and the new DLC will undoubtedly attract new players, particularly fans of marine themes.

Besides putting out free updates for Crimson Desert on all platforms—which are mainly aimed at fixing technical issues— Pearl Abyss is working on a Nintendo Switch 2 port of the game, which could be available next year. Furthermore, the developers are actively working on their new IP—DokeV, an open-world action-adventure game featuring Dokebi, creatures from Korean folklore that gain strength from people’s dreams and join forces on their adventures. The game is reportedly set for release sometime in 2028.
